Description

It would be amazing if symbiosis allows users to 'drop in' varnish caching.

I've thought about this too, with an approximate idea for how it might work as a reverse proxy with no rules by default, add your own site specific vcl in /srv/domain/config/varnish

Something like this, with a clause for each site in /srv, would be pretty neat:

if (req.http.Host "something.com") {
include "/srv/site-something.com/config/vcl";
}
elsif (req.http.Host "somethingelse.com") {
include "/srv/site-somethingelse.com/config/vcl";
}

This would live in eg, /etc/symbiosis/varnish/ and be generated each time the 'vcl' file was created, probably on a cron or incrond job. It would side-step the idea of broken or (dare I say it) malicious VCLs interfering with the wrong domain and allow us to have a do-nothing-by-default policy for domains where the file doesn't exist.

It'd be pretty swish, if you ask me.
