XMPP is implemented in Symbiosis. GnuSocial offers a way to create access another federated microblogging network with instant accounts.

I've done some work in this direction recently.

Installing GNUsocial on a symbiosis machine is trivial, the bit that's missing is integration with Symbiosis's idea of user accounts. With that, "copy the gnusocial code inplace and generate an appropriate config" is a perfectly fine way to get a full deployment on symbiosis. With working email and XMPP as well, no less.

It's all social-side code, rather than symbiosis-side though, I think.
